The Federated Kingdom of Guasuguay is a federal constitutional monarchy in South Esmaria. Its capital, Tajy Kuéra, is situated along the shore of Lake Iguaçu. It is comprised of nine states, which are represented in its legislature, the Tetã Amandaje. Since the construction of the Pan-Condean Maglev, Guasuguay's economy has shifted towards one more dependent on trade with Ancoria. Furthermore, it receives significant Commonwealth subsidies in return for its hosting of major military facilities, in particular the military complexes of Fortaleza Pirĩvevúi and Fortaleza Kurupayty.
History
Guasuguay stands alongside Itzmilco as one of the few remaining indigenous monarchies in the Commonwealth, its current ruling lineage tracing to extant pre-contact chiefdoms dating back over a half-millennium. Unlike its counterparts, however, Guasuguay's evolution into a modern state saw its monarchy largely adopting western customs and practices, largely modeled after the practices of the then-Ancorian Empire. A landlocked nation, its reliance on Ancoria ultimately led to there being little internal objection to its entry into the Commonwealth in 0031 R.C., under the reign of Araresa II.
Its place in regional trade across the southern triangle of the Esmarian continent saw vast Commonwealth subsidies, particularly towards infrastructural projects expanding highways into the country. Mining, logging and grain became its prime exports, largely destined for southern Ancoria, Costa Ferrea and Karuland. Over the course of the 1st century R.C., opposition to the continued deforestation of the Coari Rainforest led to numerous policies on ecological protection being passed, its economy shifting towards mining and tourism over the century's course.
The completion of the Pan-Condean Maglev led to another shift in course, as the country found itself outcompeted by Condean resource output. This led to the kingdom taking on subsidies in exchange for hosting Commonwealth troops, particularly in the fortresses of Pirĩvevúi and Kurupayty. Today, Guasuguay is a tourist hotspot in the continent, having an ample social safety network sustained by Commonwealth subsidies and corporate investment. The reign of Arandu I has seen a largely pacifistic approach to politics, favoring regional integration and good relations with neighboring Costa Ferrea and Ancoria. While its security forces closely guard the Coari Rainforest the country is situated besides for the stated purpose of 'combatting illegal logging and poaching', the truth is that the measure is a twofold one: Guasuguay and neighboring Colla work together to maintain the closely-guarded secret that is Ch'iyara Chinkana, one of the three major subterranean pan-Commonwealth military installations.
