Embanda is a Zanobian diasporic religion practiced in Ancoria combining elements of West Zanobian religions (in particular that of the Oredodo, Mafrans and Ambundians), Canonical Soterianity and indigenous Ancorian practices. Embanda derives from the West Ambundian term for magic, mbanda, though its practitioners prefer terms like santeiros and povo dos santos, roughly translating to 'saintly people' or 'people of the saints'. This is due to the syncretic role between Soterian saints and Embanda orixás within the Embanda religion, though many others simply regard themselves to be Soterians, viewing no contradiction apparent in their practices.
Highly decentralized, Embanda is divided into a number of disparate rites and 'nations' that further complicate broad oversimplification. Some of these rites share syncretic elements not only with Soterianity, but with religions such as Nirvanism, Tōnallōlloheztli and Zuhd.
