Caturama (Low Vestan: Katoerama) is a state in northeastern Ancoria located along the Hyperian coast. Bordered to the west by Caiubi and Ibotirama and to the east by Tecarema, it is host to a number of major highways, including the AN-233. Its capital, Indaial, is a key stopping point along the broader highway and rail networks of the northeast. Owing to its strategic position and relatively low population, Caturama hosts a number of military facilities, most notable among them the 'Escudo do Nordeste' array of defensive superguns.
Caturama's climate is of particular interest to tourists and scientists alike, with the unique caatinga bioregion spanning much of the state's southern reaches. A number of prehistoric sites also dot the inland, warranting particular archaeological interest. The Caturama Man, discovered in the Caves of Vrão in 0002 R.C., is believed to be the oldest known example of human remains in Ancoria.
Initially colonized by the Flacklanders, many of its cities were initially founded in this colonial period. Despite the subsequent Viratian conquest, Low Vestan culture remains strong in the state, with most speaking Low Vestan as a first language.
