The Arioserican Federation is a constituent federation of the Asterian Union State, located in Southeast Asteria. Arioserica is bordered by the Union State federations of Soanatice and Biamadeta to the west, the Serican Federation to the north, the Republic of Lugarico to the east and the Glendresian Commonwealth to the south. It is composed of four constituent republics (Namea, Jalon, Laoloon, Quemaria), owing to Arioserica existing as a union of member states at the time it was inducted into the Union State. Arioserica in the last century has come to be dominated in political affairs by Namea, as a consequence of its role as the “revolutionary cradle” of Arioserica. The federation also possesses great natural wealth in the form of large oil and natural gas deposits, which the state-owned oil and gas company PK Asfneft has invested significant sums into exploiting.

History

The formation of the Volscian Empire destabilized its crown jewel colonial union to the east, the State of Arioserica, with political and cultural autonomy eroded under the subsequent decade of Tritestist rule. From 911 S.C., dissent escalated into armed resistance led by the Society of Friends, a de facto Labourist federation of trade unions under Mau-Sinh Cao, leading to the First Arioserica War (923–931 S.C.). With support from the Council of Labourist Nations (CLN) and a sympathetic, albeit non-Labourist Serica, the revolutionaries defeated Volscia at the Battle of Muong Sung in 931 S.C., forcing the Empire's withdrawal.

The postwar partition created four states: the anti-Labourist Republic of Arioserica (RAS, also Lower Arioserica) in Jalon; the Labourist People's Democratic Republic of Namea (PDRN); and two constitutional monarchies—the Kingdom of Quemaria and the Kingdom of Laoloon. The Society of Friends split regionally: the Namean Revolutionary Society, its main successor, became Namea's ruling party and the region's primary coordinator of nativist revolution; the Asterian Liberation Front guerrilla movement (often called the Estrela Amor, the Estrela or EA, from the initials for eunista ariosericano), active in the RAS; the Pativat in Laoloon; and the Pracheachon in Quemaria.

Claiming continuity with the colonial regime, the RAS came under the authoritarian rule of President Josias Batista Demas, a Canonical Soterian Mestiço and former colonial Director General for Public Security. His government, dominated by Eurysian-descended officers, alienated Lower Arioserica's indigenous and non-Canonical populations. Mounting resentment led to the Second Arioserica War (932–952 S.C.), beginning with the Estrela Amor's insurgency. The conflict soon spread: the Laoloon War (936–952 S.C.) and Quemarian War (944–952 S.C.) saw PDRN-backed uprisings by the Pativat and Pracheachon against racial oligarchies in both kingdoms. While these continued to receive Serican and CLN aid, Volscia and Soanatice backed the RAS despite mutual enmity. During this time, Quemaria also saw the rise of Phlov Meatophum, a syncretic, nativist faith derived from Puranasikkha Nirvanism, with Eurysian Avantgardist political influence.

The Demas regime's repression ultimately culminated in the Prajna Day massacre (940 S.C.), prompting Soanatice to orchestrate his assassination. Military coups would haunt the RAS for the next four years. In 942 S.C., Volscian troops returned at the request of one of these short-lived juntas. Mau-Sinh Cao died in 943 S.C., succeeded in Namea by his lieutenant Trung-Khe Ha. In 944 S.C., Martinho Rosario seized power in the RAS, establishing another white Soterian-dominated government with minor concessions to indigenous groups. Sensing weakness, the PDRN and the Estrela Amor launched the Sotermas Offensive (944 S.C.), capturing a quarter of the RAS, including Tunon. Though the Estrela were decimated, Rosario's rule collapsed amid morale issues and internal dissent. When the President resigned and fled to Volscia, the RAS capitulated on Sotermas Day 951 S.C., with all anti-Labourist regimes surrendering by early 952 S.C.

Postwar, Namea annexed the far north of Lower Arioserica; the rest became the Estrela-led Republic of Lower Arioserica (RLAS). Labourist power in Laoloon endured through PDRN support, but in Quemaria, Phlov Meatophum ousted them with Soanatetian aid. The Supreme Patriarch of the faith, Chey Vorman, declared a new Quemarian Empire, pursuing modernization alongside repression and ethnic violence. Quemarian incursions into the RLAS sparked a joint PDRN–RLAS invasion in 957 S.C., toppling the imperial regime and at last incorporating Quemaria into the Labourist bloc. In 958 S.C., the Labourist states unified as People's Republics of the Arioserican Union, under the Arioserican Labour Party, prompting Serica to distance itself diplomatically and focus on its porous northern frontier with Zalesia. Arioserica remained neutral during the Twilight War (964–971 S.C.) and eventual Great Exchange (968 S.C.).

Following the death of Namean leader Trung-Khe Ha in 967 S.C., Teodorico Lê, a Namean imperial scion, became General Secretary of the Arioserican Labour Party. His long tenure was marked by opposition from liberal reformist Pedro Rosa, who advocated for party and eventually full democracy. Their rivalry lasted over two decades, culminating in Rosa's Rebellion (0016 R.C.), despite Rosa having been expelled from the party. Anticipating a protracted conflict, Lê, a long-time Pan-Asterianist, requested military aid from the newly-founded Asterian Union State. With support from the continent's two largest powers, now unified, the rebellion was swiftly crushed—followed by brutal reprisals. The civil war and intervention quashed lingering unrest from the pre-Rational Calendar era.

In 0022 R.C., Lê's purged government abolished Labourism, applied for Union State membership, and restructured the Arioserican Union as a Federation. The former People's Republics became ethnic Republics, and the ruling party was integrated as the Arioserican section of the Prostasist Party.

Federation status pacified the “junior” republics, and Namean-led paternalism gave way—gradually—to broader ethnic participation. Still, continued Namean dominance had engendered discontent among non-Nameans and Nameans alike… which might prove crucial to the Federation's future prospects.
