Sociedade Epitímica (or Epithymism) is a new age occult philosophy and religion born from esoteric undercurrents of faiths such as Soterianity across Esmaria and Thule, with the bulk of its adherents being located within Ancoria. It values the central maxim of “do what thou wilt”, emphasizing to its followers to indulge and discover in all facets of reality as a means to follow one's true purpose or will. This is considered a divine mission that supersedes the desires of the mundane.
Magic is central to the religion, with a wide array of physical and spiritual rituals geared towards the discovery of one's ultimate purpose in life; this is done as a means to align with the “intended”. Various rituals and meditative practices are used to explore one's inner self and bring about these changes. The Epithymist Mass resembles traditional Soterian practices but is deliberately changed to express Epithymist tenets.
Central to Epithymic cosmology is the belief that reality has recently moved into the “Aeon of the Sovereign”, a new spiritual epoch defined by radical self-actualization and the dismantling of restrictive old-world Plateian dogmas. This paradigm shift was supposedly heralded by the founder of Epithymism, Albert Thompson, through direct communion with a preternatural intelligence known only as the Eidolon.
