It was founded by [[Ma Zhangxian]], formerly named Song Zhijin, and draws inspiration from a multitude of religions: namely [[Nirvanism]] with [[Soterianity|Soterian]] characteristics and terminology. The religion preaches that humanity is locked in a state of spiritual decay that can only be overcome by awakening latent psychic potential. Ma Zhangxian presents himself as an enlightened avatar capable of transferring his own mental energy to disciples to forcibly burn away accumulated karma. Initiate practices combine intense psychical conditioning and sensory deprivation, promising divine immunity from an impending cosmic purification. The sect has drawn increasing hostility from varying authorities over reports of coercion.
