The **Union of Eningui** is a multiethnic superstate spanning the southern end of the [[Zanobia|Zanobian continent]]. With a population of 336 million people and an area of 2,046,471 square miles, it is both the largest and most populous nation on the Zanobian continent. Founded following the victory of anti-colonial insurgencies across former minority governments in south Zanobia, on the basis of the ideology of [[ISizwe seNingi]], Eningui has been a key strategic ally to the Union State for nearly a century, countering [[Pan-Esmarian Commonwealth|Commonwealth]] and [[Coalition of Congressional Nations|Coalition]] allies in the region.

Dominated by the [[IQembu leSizwe seNingi]] ("Party of the Nation of the Majority"), Eningui's ideology is built upon anti-imperialist, militaristic and staunchly Zanocentric values. Eningui possesses a vast military and political apparatus to match its grand ambitions for the continent, and also hosts key [[Asterian Union State|Union State]] military facilities, as the two superstates cooperating closely on common ideological and strategic interests. The Union also cooperates with the Great [[Masician People's Federation]], despite noteworthy differences in their ideological visions for the continent's future.

The [[Twilight War]] proved disastrous to the [[South Zanobian Association]], a regional alliance of settler minority governments in the south of the continent. While not explicitly supported by the [[Allied Nations]], the South Zanobian Association had still enjoyed limited, indirect material support bypassing preexisting arms embargoes, a trickle brought to a standstill by the nuclear conflagration at the conflict's peak. Emboldened by the political and social turmoil following the Twilight War, various anti-colonial, anti-imperialist militant organizations intensified their campaigns, manpower swelling in the wake of widespread economic downturn.

While the SZA enjoyed limited support from the nascent Coalition, controversies regarding the repressive and undemocratic societal laws of various SZA member-states prevented any explicit form of military aid, and many arms embargoes persisted into the early Rational Calendar. Of the militant groups to arise in defiance of settler oppression, [[UMkhonto weNingi]] ("Spear of the Majority") of Josua Sithole (later much better known as [[Duduzani Sithole]]) would be the most prominent, proving a consistent political and military threat to Amzance's government and [[National Armed Forces]] (ANAF). Clandestine Coalition military support would largely evaporate with the advent of the [[Quisquellan War]] (0016-0024 R.C.), further worsening the political situation.

Pressured by rapidly escalating political crisis, Amzance would be the first nation to open multilateral peace talks with resistance groups in 0017 R.C., followed by Ludovicia (modern [[Zimbahuru]]). Tenuous agreements for multiracial elections by 0020 were agreed upon by the involved parties, beginning a transitional period in anticipation of free elections. The exclusion of the ANAF from peace talks led to [[Operation Gemstone]] on June 8th of 0018 R.C., a military coup that removed incumbent president [[Andreas Müller]] from office, instating party hardliners and reversing the peace process. This perceived betrayal led to widespread revolt, further swelling the numbers of UMkhonto weNingi and affiliated groups. The newly-established Union State soon backed the revolutionaries, lending them ample military advisory support leading to numerous strategic victories.

Amzance's government would be the first to collapse, beginning a domino effect that would ultimately spread across the SZA. In the aftermath, the [[Conference of KwaNdwandwe]] was held in 0023 R.C. between the victorious parties and surviving members of the original governments. Influenced by the Union State's [[Prostasism|Prostasist]] ideology, a new multiethnic 'Union of Eningui' was established. The armed groups would form the backbone of Eningui's armed forces, while the eclectic mix of political groups were brought under the fold of the newly-founded IQembu leSizwe seNingi, the 'Party of the Nation of the Majority', built around an ethnofederalist, Zanocentric ideology similar to that of the Union State's Prostasism.

Following their victory, the member-states of the Union were reconstituted into 'Federations', their subordinate Republics carved along ethnic lines. In order to 'decolonize' major cities and implement land reform, remaining white settler populations were relocated to a handful of newly-designated republics within each of the Federations, with local politicians being instated as governors. Nativizations in tandem with cultural revolution led to significant linguistic changes, with the newly-established Federation of Amzance being renamed the [[Federation of Umzantshi]], with the rest of the Union's federations following in similar nativist paths.

The [[Zanobian Crash]] was ultimately of little detriment to the superstate, as the newly-renamed Umzantshi still possessed significant crude resource reserves. If anything, it was a significant opportunity to the new state, as it quickly emerged as one of the key power-players on the continent, almost wholly autarkic in comparison to other Union State allies in the region. Eningui's advisory forces assisted in the [[Masician Revolution]] and the subsequent [[North Zanobian War]], helping deepen the Union State's foothold on the continent.

Today, the Union of Eningui is a key ally of the Union State in Zanobia, having produced expeditionary volunteer units to assist in the Colony War. In southern Zanobia, it is a persistent threat to its Coalition and Commonwealth-aligned neighbors, presently assisting the Kulembe-backed [[Ilungan People's Liberation Organization]] in fighting the pro-Coalition government of [[Ilunga]], while also preparing for future campaigns against [[Ambundia]], [[Bungo]], and the Amzancian remnant state in [[Antipodea]].
