The Coalition of Congressional Nations is a supranational economic, political and military union in the Solar System.
Founded from the framework of the Allied Nations in the aftermath of the Twilight War, the Coalition was the first multinational bloc to wholly embrace military and economic integration. While initially purposed towards countering postwar insurgencies, Asterian geopolitical influence and occasional kaiju attacks, the Coalition's military wing, the Coalition Forces Authority, greatly grew in size and doctrinal purpose with the onset of widespread space colonization in the 1st century RC, aiming to secure dominance over Plateia's most stable L-points, L4 and L5. In addition to its stellar expansion, the member states of the Coalition would also achieve economic autarky through asteroid mining in the outer Solar System.
Competition with the nascent Asterian Union State over space would greatly contribute to the expansion of its space military, as well as vastly expand space colonization, extraplanetary colonization and asteroid mining endeavors. The Coalition's military would prove itself adeptly in the Colony War, backing and fighting alongside proxy forces across the inner solar system in their rebellion against Asterian authority, and the conflict would see the first combat records of mobile fencers— of which the CFA's MF-01 Titan Early Production Type would prove more than capable. In the aftermath, the CCN would gain authority over a number of former Asterian colonies, including Kunlun, Kaixuan and Guangyang.
Though corruption, corporatism and greed blight the modern political structure of the Coalition, the CCN still purports itself as a representative of human rights, individual freedom and democracy both on Plateia and in the Solar System. Representatives of the CCN's member states partake in the Coalition Congress, where overarching laws for its member states are ratified. Member states possess limited internal security forces, and are obligated to contribute volunteers to the unified military of the Coalition, the Coalition Forces Authority. Megacorporate entities possess troubling degrees of influence within the political structure of the CCN, and a great deal of the congressmen are suspected to be taking bribes. Due to this, corporate abuses of power beyond Plateia are often overlooked by the wider population.
