Tōnallōlloheztli is an Itzmilcan polytheistic ethnoreligion and the state religion of the Empire of Itzmilco. With origins well before the start of the Twilight War, the modern incarnation of the religion rose with the nationalistic resurgence of Itzmilco on the world scene. Within the religion, there is veneration of both traditional gods and those of the Imperial Bloodline who claim ancestry from the imperial crown. This includes Cuāhuitztli Tlanelhuayōtiāni, the founder of Itzmilco, and Tōnalitztli Tēpēhuani, the victorious Emperor of Itzmilco during the Second Itzmilcan-Esmarian War. In the terms of the gods, there exists those that descend from the great god Tiahcāuhtōnatiuh in addition to the members of the Ogdoad, the eight primary deities.
