The Settlement Independence Forces is a political and military organization serving as a united front for the independence of Coalition-controlled Vasati. Founded by Colonel Nakano following the 0116 Miners' Revolt, its ideology is centered around a democratic labourist agenda, aiming to achieve a workers' state on Vasati. The SIF's insurgency is primarily located around the Mare Euploiae, the Copiosa Cherso Territory, and the Transarch Territory.
History
Founded following the Miners' Revolt on Vasati in RC 0116, the Settlement Independence Forces sought the total liberation of the megacorporate colonies on the planet Vasati and its twin moons. Originating from a workers' uprising against the unjust labor conditions imposed by the Mitsubara Corporation on its Vasati mining colonies, the movement also appealed to many colonial garrison soldiers on the planet, leading to its swift evolution into a military force after the Coalition reacted violently to the SIF's rebellion. Currently led by the elusive and charismatic 'Colonel Nakano,' the movement has wide appeal on Coalition (and Coalition-corporate) colonies on Vasati, due to the prevalence of corporate rule on Plateia's distant sister-planet. Debate regarding the establishment of a proper government has remained inconclusive, as the SIF wishes to achieve its political goals before establishing a civilian government. The SIF also cooperates extensively with the Grensland Defense Forces, who have deployed some of their finest troops to aid and advise the SIF in the form of the Buitewêreldse Raadsgroep, or Offworld Advisory Group. While unaffiliated with the SVA, cooperation still exists between the two factions due to naturally aligned goals, and an unofficial 'united front' exists between the two liberation armies.
The SIF operates a mixture of Coalition and Grenslander military equipment, occasionally fielding scavenged Asterian equipment as well. The Vasati Arms Corporation, or VASARM, forms the backbone of the SIF's tentative military-industrial complex, responsible for the modification and improvement of preexisting designs.
