The Serican Federation is a constituent federation of the Asterian Union State located in East Asteria. With a population of over 1.7 billion people, it is the largest constituent federation of the Union State, and, by extension, the most populous political entity in the world. Along with the Zalesian Federation, Serica is one of the founding nations behind the Union State. Its capital is Xinjing. Bordered by the Sirimese Federation to the east, the Kashlikian Federation to the north, the Sagani and Topatan federations to the west, and the Biamadetan and Arioserican federations to the south, it is the third-largest continental federation of the Union State. Administratively, it is comprised of 6 direct-administered municipalities (Changqing, Longyan, Ningjin, Weiping, Xincheng, Xinjing), 31 provinces, 2 special economic zones (Tsing Kong, Shengyan) and 7 republics (Aisin, Haigga, Hemeng, Jinsha, Lamyong, Tongzhou, Yaksa).
The most economically potent of the Union State's federations, Serica has become a hub for political reform within the framework of the Union State, with a significant amount of the Serican branch of the Prostasist Party being reformists. Serica was the first federation to establish special economic zones permitting external trade with the Coalition, adopting a number of market liberalizations further solidifying their economic primacy within the Union State. Owing to their stances, Serica has become a hotbed for projects that would otherwise incur the suspicion or wrath of the Party, ranging from novel medical technologies to humanoid robots. The Union State's military has also invested significant funds towards the establishment of the Reactive Defense System, a network of strategic supercomputers given partial control over ballistic missile silos, BMD, and supergun arrays within the Serican Federation.
