The Federation of Mbiki is a constituent federation of the Union of Eningui, situated along its Zanobian Ocean coast. It is bordered to the west by Umzantshi and Zimbahuru, to the north by Kwama and the Kingdom of South Puaquassi, alongside maritime borders shared with the Kingdom of Sisifo. Its capital and largest city is Matsolo, formerly Soter Sanctus. The Revolutionary People's Republic of Mbiki was reorganized into the Federation of Mbiki in 0023 R.C., following the founding of the Union.

Mbiki is largely an agrarian nation, as fishing, maritime trade and tourism are a driving force along its coastline and Matsolo in particular, with agrotech and farming dominating the interior. The exploitation of natural resources, especially in the north, make Mbiki of particular strategic value to the broader Union, to which its northern border with South Puaquassi is significantly fortified and monitored.

History
The State of Ambica was known for being a prosperous bastion of overseas Vestan wealth, founded by emigres following the Vestan Revolution and the collapse of Vesta's colonial empire in the 860s S.C. While ostensibly prosperous on paper, Ambica's society was built atop a regime of harsh segregation and class division. Beyond the capital of Soter Sanctus, most of the indigenous Mumbiki working class toiled under miserable conditions, disregarded by its government due to the sheer influence of Ambica's industrial and agricultural conglomerates. The aftermath of the Twilight War severely impacted the fragile geopolitical balance in southern Zanobia, emboldening a diverse variety of revolutionary, anti-imperialist militant movements opposed to minority rule to distance themselves from peaceful demonstrations, strikes and industrial sabotage to far more brazen, violent forms of direct action.

The People's Democratic Movement of Mbiki was established in 974 S.C. by Dr. Moses Mondlane and a circle of fellow University of Soter Sanctus graduates. Initially a peaceful organization aiming for further desegregation of Ambican society and institutions, it took up militancy following the Sotermas Massacre of 0003 R.C. Rechristened the Revolutionary People's Democratic Movement of Mbiki, the RPDM began its campaign of anti-government action in 0006, with the bombing of multiple rail lines across the country. The movement would surge to prominence in 0012 R.C., with a campaign of car bombings across the country targeting political and corporate officials tied to the regime. Dr. Mondlane publicly voiced his demands for democratic transition in a hijacked radio broadcast. This series of attacks marked the intensification of the 'Ambican Bush War'.

Such demands were completely ignored by president Alberich Schwarz, purportedly under intense pressure from the Ambican conglomerates. Aiming to weaken the movement, the Ambican Security Forces retaliated with Unternehmen Goldstaub, which saw a broad number of bombing campaigns targeting the countryside, as significant usage of pesticides and chemical weapons were used to clear entire villages sympathetic to the RPDM. While tactically successful, it galvanized the revolutionaries, with most organizations consolidating under the banner of the RPDM by 0015 R.C., swayed by Mondlane's charismatic leadership.

Opposition to the government's methods festered in civil society, with a number of politicians leaving the ruling Ambican Fatherland Party in 0016 to form the Party for Democratic Reconciliation. Embittered by the ASF's atrocities, Dr. Mondlane demonstrated little interest in cooperation across the aisle, focusing on expanding the RPDM and its appeal to the Mumbiki majority.

His campaign of insurgency intensified, while, concurrently, clandestine Coalition support for the Ambican government was reduced to a trickle by the logistical demands of the Quisquellan War. The nascent Asterian Union State, having a vested interest in combatting Coalition influence in Zanobia, sent advisors and equipment to aid the RPDM. The movement quickly grew to occupy real territory in the nation's western and northern hinterlands. Faced with growing internal pressure and an increasingly emboldened RPDM, president Schwarz authorized Unternehmen Quarzglocke, a broad series of fireforce operations aiming to cripple the insurgency, with significant logistical and military support from neighboring Amzance. The operation would end in disaster, as fireforce tactics were countered by Union State pilots. Avoiding direct confrontation with the ASF, RPDM forces targeted logistics and artillery with specialized sapper units, guided by their Asterian advisors. While Ambican loss of life was insignificant in the long run, many material losses proved costly and nigh-impossible to be replenished. Though the conflict would persist, the failures of Unternehmen Quarzglocke would mark the turning of the tide in the insurgency.

The collapse of Amzance's government would mark the beginning of the end for minority rule, though the ASF fought on, with much of the Ambican settler population fearing annihilation. Others, however, intensified their calls for peace and reconciliation. This would come a head with the National Security Act of 0020, which outlawed the Party for Democratic Reconciliation. Faced with this, anti-war officers led a failed coup d'etat in December of that year. In the wake of the coup d'etat attempt, a purge of sympathetic officers commenced, further straining the deteriorating situation.

The collapse of the 3rd Infantry Division in June of 0021 would herald the end of the Ambican state, as the ASF's chain of command fractured and the RPDM encroached upon the metropolitan coastline. Foreseeing brain drain if mass evacuations were permitted to take place, Dr. Mondlane utilized Union State material assets to his advantage, threatening to use anti-air and anti-ship assets against any major efforts to evacuate. By the time the RPDM reached the capital of Soter Sanctus on August 8th, widespread looting and spontaneous revolutionary violence had left Ambican Security Forces in the capital nigh-incapable of putting up a coherent resistance. Though the ASF was crushed in 0021, many pockets of localized resistance would persist across former Ambica into the 0040s R.C.

Victorious, the RPDM renamed the capital Matsolo, establishing the Revolutionary People's Republic of Mbiki. An aggressive campaign of national revival destroyed many symbols of the minority regime, be it landmarks or buildings representative of the former government. Moses Mondlane took on the name Ahlulani Mondlane, to which many ethnic Mumbiki shed off their Eurysian names. Land reform initiatives, aiming to defang the land-owning settler former elites, would be pursued for the decades to come, transferring many agricultural and industrial possessions to local guilds of RPDM agricultural workers. While initially confined to simple land reform initiatives, the plan gradually escalated to outright mass relocations of settler populations, the RPDM granting ex-PDC politicians autonomy over the coastal province of Ribuwabusa, known in Vestan as Margarethenküste. The RPDM would be among the parties present at the Conference of KwaNdwandwe, forming the Union of Eningui and reorganizing itself to become the Mumbiki branch of the IQembu leSizwe seNingi. The Revolutionary People's Republic of Mbiki became the Federation of Mbiki as a result.

Still, in the aftermath of the war, widespread destruction inflicted by both the RPDM and the ASF left Mbiki devastated. Mbiki's recovery required significant assistance from the central government of Eningui, and foreign aid from the Union State. Facilities that could not be restored to solvency were simply left abandoned, limiting the scope of reconstruction to that which was manageable by Mbiki's new leadership. Mbiki's condition improved somewhat with the advent of the Zanobian Crash, as a porous northern border mandated increased attention from the central government to the federation's condition. Infrastructure was further rebuilt and expanded to accommodate the logistics of a fortified northern border, though this naturally yielded benefits for civilian life in Mbiki.

While the situation in Mbiki had stabilized by the 0080s, the Novadietan Space Boom and other similar events heralded an economic shift favoring outer space. To remain competitive, Mbiki's government was put under increasing pressure by the central government of Eningui to increase its raw resource output. Old mines were reopened, new ones were established, and quotas gradually became harsher. In contrast to its growing population, living conditions in Mbiki had largely remained stagnant from the 0050s onward.

Today, Mbiki is still governed by the successors to Dr. Ahlulani Mondlane's Revolutionary People's Democratic Movement of Mbiki. Though only a sparse few alive lived in those times, the imagery of the revolution is ever-present in propaganda and literature, a distraction from the general incompetence and cronyism of the federation's government. Under constant pressure by Eningui's central government to provide greater resource yields, the federation's leadership's ignorance of the material conditions of the steadily growing population has led them to rely on exploiting racial grievances to distract from their own incompetence.
