Apason Krai was formed under the Faynon Federal District to administer the Union State's territorial holdings on Apason. A highly lucrative source of valuable hydrocarbons, the Union State has extensive hydrocarbon collection and refining infrastructure at the eastern edge of the Melasia Mare on Apason's surface as well as logistical support facilities for its surface operations in the Phainon-Sol L5 Laplace point. It has three Anaheim Cylinders (Tarasov, Natanael, Ganjineh), where almost all of the entire Krai's population lives, with Tarasov being the administrative capital. There also exists a small population of around fifty thousand people living on Apason's surface, giving it a total population of 7,668,891. In terms of population, Apason Krai is the smallest of the Union State's spatial administrative units.
