It comprises all of the Union State's colonies in L4, of which there are currently seventeen. L4 has been a historical priority for the Union State's colonization programmes, and it possesses a population of just over 80 million. Like other L-point federations, the population of the L4 Federation is widely varied, although a majority are either ethnic [[Sericans]] or [[Zalesians]]. The people are overall supportive of the Union State and — perhaps more importantly — the ruling Prostasist party. Following a political crisis in 0121 R.C. brought about by the treason of its chairwoman, [[Im Na-Ra]], its government was uprooted by the [[Oprichnik Corps]]. The revelation of her collusion with the [[Tyanlun Rebellion]] led to mass arrests of those responsible for conspiring against the Party. After a brief interim under the leadership of Oprichnik [[Polkovnik Dimitar Kostov]], new elections were held thereafter, upon which regular civilian order was restored in the colony.
