Bordered to the west by Natiova, to the north by Nhoesembé, to the east by Ibotirama, and to the south by Paraibuna, the state is located at the eastern periphery of the Coari Rainforest. its capital and largest city is Itaimbé do Igaci, which is situated along the AN-232 and the Inaiê River. Known colloquially as the 'gateway of the Coari', Igaci plays a significant role in Ancoria's inland trucking routes. Igaci supports a unique biosphere, ranging from the cerrado savanna to its east to the edge of the Coari Rainforest to its west. It hosts the Guaratinga National Park in its southwest, which supports a diverse range of flora and fauna. While historically subjected to significant amounts of deforestation, the implementation of the Coari Reclamation Project, which partly utilizes technologies used in the terraforming of Vasati, has been widely successful, with only a handful of remaining regions awaiting reintroduction of indigenous flora and fauna. Industrially, Igaci is a major source of rubber, аçaí, cassava, coconut and banana. Igaci was a periphery of Viratian colonization—and later the Ancorian Empire—for much of its history. Only through the discovery of gold in the region in 870 S.C. did serious colonization take place, quickly leading to the territory being uplifted to the status of imperial province. Steady growth continued well past the abolition of the monarchy and the founding of the Ancorian Federation, though only with the construction of the AN-232 highway running through the state did Igaci cease to be a remote frontier of the broader Federation. Still, this growth came with costs, as deforestation steadily took place over the 10th century S.C. well into the 1st century R.C. Only following the 0087 Constitution did serious attempts to reverse deforestation take place.
